Diplomatic History , sponsored by the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR), is the only journal devoted to U.S. international history and foreign relations, broadly defined, including grand strategy, diplomacy, and issues involving gender, religion, culture, race and ethnicity, and ideology.

Diplomatic history. Diplomatic history deals with the history of international relations between states. Diplomatic history can be different from international relations in that the former can concern itself with the foreign policy of one state while the latter deals with relations between two or more states.

In order to be considered for review, manuscripts must comply with the formatting requirements listed in the Diplomatic History Reference Guide at the time of submission. Authors should include an abstract and a short bio (50-100 words) with their manuscript submission as supplementary documents.
